Cats the pet choice of the Intelligent?

Cold wet and miserable yet again, I think beautiful Rutland is still out there, but it is hard to see its potential with the weather’s endeavours to stay in this depressive mode. Talking of depressive modes we will now talk of the Daily Telegraph’s front page expose, on Saturday. We are not amused. It is rarely that my necessary interloper and I have common ground on anything, but this weekend we shared a moment of camaraderie and outrage. I repeat again for effect you understand, that the Telegraph says on the front page, ‘Cats, pet choice of the intelligent.’ This article goes on to says that ‘Brave scientist from the University of Bristol have declared, that ‘cat owners are cleverer, than dog owners.’ This I would refute.

The article drones on to say these learned academics have discovered that university graduates are significantly more likely than the general population to own a cat. Dog ownership meanwhile, is an indicator of more modest educational achievements.’ Apparently, they carried out a survey and came up with these ridiculous statistics. It just goes to show what you can do with statistics if you ask the right question. We have enough academic paperwork in this house to say this combo are intelligent enough to open a stationery shop, although only one of them is what I call savvy, which is what really matters. Savoir-faire is what gets you by in this world in the end, no matter how many pieces of paper you have.

Were these Scientists’ brave or were they dealing in dodgy stats? Is this a dodgy dossier? Could this be construed as pet engineering? I am of course degreeless, extremely intelligent, and don’t own a cat, I am, as you are aware not keen on them, and what of the millions that don’t own a pet, of any sort, are they also condemned to less than modest educational achievements? I don’t think so.

I am as always

    Dear Sophie,

I’d like to add this to your remarks of cat owners being more intelligent than us dog owners. If they are so intelligent why have they not come up with away to keep their pussies tolietries in their own back gardens, or learnt to at least follow and clean if up like our owners do.

If they haven’t learn’t these basic understandings of animal ownership they evidently are NOT as intelligent as our owners. LOL x

Hello Dexter I would agree with you. He reall y loves it when he has to chuck the salad stuff away; after it has taken such time and care to grow it, when dear Puss has …. all over it. He tells me off then says I am not doing my job. I am an aristocrat I do not have a job whatever he might think. LGSx
